Richard James Otero, Sr., or Dick as he is most often referred to, is the founder and owner of the Fairfax Business Coach, LLC, a part of The Growth Coach franchise system. Currently, Dick also serves as the President of EZCertify.com, a business development company, which he founded in 1998, that provides software and consulting services designed to assist small, minority, women and service-disabled owned businesses succeed in the Federal government contracting arena.

Prior to either the Growth Coach or to EZCertify, Dick started, operated for nineteen years, and successfully sold off, in1998, his ownership in RJO Enterprises, Inc. one the country’s most successful 8(a), high-tech, information technology and electronics concerns.. Dick was recognized twice as the national entrepreneur of the year, once by the Small Business Administration and once by the Minority Business Development Agency of the Federal government. His company was recognized for five consecutive years as one of the fastest growing companies in the nation, by Inc. Magazine (See Inc. 500 – Hall of Fame).

Dick is also a small business and minority business community activist. He was among the founders of the National Federation of 8(a) Companies, and the National Coalition of Minority Business. He served as the Chairman of the Latin American Management Association, and President of the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Maryland State Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the Board of Advisors to the Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In 2010, Dick discovered that he could more effectively pass on his years of successful business experience while serving as a coach to the thousands of companies that he had already provided consulting services to over the years. This would mean that he could transfer the fundamental knowledge and experience that he had gained about becoming a successful business person without having to become a subject-matter expert in the multitude of different businesses that he encountered as Federal government contractors. After reflection, Dick decided to use the power of franchising to offer his new coaching services. This meant that he would not have to re-invent the myriad of systems, processes and practices as he had done before when he built his former businesses.
